Ratan Tata Biography

Ratan Tata was born on 28 December 1937 in Bombay, which is today's Mumbai. His father's name was Naval Tata and his mother's name was Sonu Tata. Ratan Tata did his early studies at Cathedral and John Cannon School Mumbai and Bishop Cotton School Shimla

In 1948, when Ratan Tata was 10 years old, his parents got divorced, due to which Ratan Tata was raised by his grandmother. With the dream of becoming an architect., Ratan Tata joined Cornell University in America for further studies.

Ratan Tata was a shy person and did not believe in the false glow of society. Forgetting his Tata name and insisting on learning on his own, Ratan Tata did many odd jobs from washing dishes to clerking in a hotel till the end of his education in America. In 1959, Tata received a degree of Bachelor in Architect.

In 1961, Ratan Tata started his career working on the shop floor of Tata Steel of Tata Group. As per the tradition of Tata, till 1970 Ratan Tata continued to work in different companies of the Tata Group. Ratan Tata was promoted to management in 1970. In 1971, Ratan Tata was given the responsibility of the Tata Group's television and radio-making and loss-making company Nelco.

In the next three years, Ratan Tata raised this company and increased its market share from 2% to 20%, but the company had to be closed due to the Emergency implemented in the country and the subsequent economic recession. Which was Ratan Tata's biggest failure in his life.

In 1975, Ratan Tata earned a management degree from Harvard University. In 1977, Ratan Tata handed over the reins of the Tata Group's Express Mill Company, which was on the verge of closure.

Ratan Tata proposed to the management to invest ₹ 50,00,000 in the company to revive the company, but the management turned down the offer. Soon one company was also closed. There was another big failure in Ratan Tata's life but Ratan Tata learned a lot from it.

In 1981, Ratan Tata was made the chairman of Tata Industries. In 1991, Ratan Tata was made the chairman of the Tata Group by JRD Tata, after which the Tata group began to grow rapidly. Tata already used to make commercial and passenger vehicles, but in general, To fulfill the dream of an Indian, Ratan Tata launched the Indica, a completely made-in-India luxury car, on 30 December 1998.

This was Ratan Tata's dream project and he worked very hard to make it happen. But the auto analyst criticized this car badly and as a result, the sale of Tata Indica took a hit. Tata Indica did not get a good response from the market and within 1 year, Tata Indica flopped due to which Tata Motors suffered a lot. After this Ratan Tata had to face a lot of criticism regarding his decision.

Ratan Tata was then suggested by some close people and investors to sell his car business to some other company to make up for the loss caused by Indica. Because the plan to launch the car was framed by Ratan Tata and it had caused losses, Ratan Tata thought this suggestion was correct. Ratan Tata took the proposal of selling his car company along with the partners to the Good Company. The meeting of Ratan Tata and his partners with Ford Company lasted for about 3 hours. Bill Ford, the chairman of the Ford Company, had rude behavior with Ratan Tata. . This thing touched Ratan Tata's heart, and overnight he left his deal with his partner and returned.

All the way Ratan Tata was feeling humiliated thinking about what happened in the meeting. He now had to answer to Belford with his success. Going back, Ratan Tata turned his full attention to Tata Motors. Researched for years and launched the new version of Indica with full dedication. Within a few years, after initial setbacks, Ratan Tata's car business started growing in a good way and proved to be a very profitable business. On the other hand, the Ford company was facing losses due to its Jaguar and Land Rover. And by 2008, it was on the verge of bankruptcy.

At that time, Ratan Tata proposed to Ford Company to buy his luxury car, Jaguar and Land Rover, which Bill Ford happily accepted. Bill Ford reached the headquarters of the Tata group with his partners in exactly the same way as he once went to meet Ratan Tata at his headquarters. Ratan Tata bought the Jaguar and Land Rover brands from Ford Company for $2.3 billion

Today Jaguar and Land Rover are part of the Tata group and are growing in the market with better profits. If Ratan Tata wanted, he could have given a befitting reply to Before in the same meeting, but Ratan Tata was not intoxicated by his success.

It is this quality that marks the difference between a successful and a great man. Like Jaguar and Land Rover, Ratan Tata bought many companies. In 2000, Tata bought the Canadian Tea Bags Inventor Company and became the world's largest manufacturer of tea bags. This has been the biggest deal of any Indian company taking over a foreign company.

In 2004 Ratan Tata bought South Korea's Commercial Vehicle, which was later renamed Tata Daewoo Commercial Vehicle. In 2007 Tata bought the Corus Group of London. Because there was a steel company that was later renamed Tata Steel Europe. In 2008, Ratan Tata made the Tata Nano car available for ₹ 1,00,000 to fulfill the dream of middle-class people traveling on scooters to have their own work.

On 28 December 2012, at the age of 75, Ratan Tata resigned as the chairman of the Tata Group and was succeeded by Cyrus Mistry. Later, Ratan Tata removed Cyrus Mistry from the post of chairman, due to which he was accused of being a dictator, which was wrong. Ratan Tata remained a bachelor for life. Ratan Tata is more fond of books and animals and lives in a flat in Colaba with his two dogs.

As per the tradition of the Tata Group, Ratan Tata increased the revenue of the Tata company by 40 times and profit by 50 times in his 21 years of career, following the policy and values. There are more than 100 companies of the Tata Group, which operate in more than 150 countries. Now in more than 7,00,000 employees' work, Tata Group donates 66% of its profits to the country for the responsibility and love towards the country.

Ratan Tata was awarded many awards. But Ratan Tata was awarded the Padma Bhushan in the year 2000 and the Padma Vibhushan in the year 2008 which is India's second-highest award.
