Chandramohan Chain (Osho) used to spend a lot of his time every day near that tree. That was the day of March 21, 1953, when Osho attained enlightenment while sitting under a tree. At that time Osho was only 21 years old and then he was studying Philosophy at Jabalpur College. After attaining enlightenment, Osho used to say that he is no longer in search of anything in the world because existence has opened all doors for him.
Even after being addressed, Chandramohan Chain (Osho) did not stop his studies and obtained an MA degree in Philosophy from University of Sagar. After this, Chandramohan Chain (Osho) started giving discourses about different religions and ideologies of the world. Along with discourses, he also started organizing meditation camps.

Osho's goal was not only to preach to the Indian people, but he wanted to give his teachings to the whole world and that is why he spent some years of his life living in America. Actually lived in America from 1981 to 1985.
Chandramohan Chain (Osho) had built his ashram in America's Argon province, which was spread over 65,000 acres. During his stay in America, Chandramohan Chain (Osho) became even more controversial because his lifestyle changed a lot after coming here. Because of expensive watches, Rolls Royce, and designer clothes, Chandramohan Chain (Osho) always became the subject of criticism. You would be surprised to know that Osho had more than 100 Rolls Royce cars at that time.
Chandramohan Chain (Osho) wanted to have 365 Rolls Royce cars so that he could travel in a new Rolls Royce car every day. His critics called him the guru of the rich. On this Osho said that there are many gurus of the poor in the world and if I am the guru of the rich, then there is nothing bad in it. When Osho started giving his discourses and his teachings to the people in America, people there also became his devotees.
Chandramohan Chain (Osho) became so famous in America that even then US President Ronald Reagan was terrified of him. Chandramohan Chain (Osho) began to fear that if he stayed here for a longer time, he might lose power. So he started creating problems for Osho in America, after which Osho returned to India in 1985.
Chandramohan Chain (Osho) died on January 19, 1990, almost 5 years after coming back. There was a lot of controversy over the death of Osho, in which many people said that Chandramohan Chain (Osho) was murdered, but no action was taken regarding the murder. The claim has never been proven either. And Osho's death remained a mystery forever. Even though Chandramohan Chain (Osho) is no more in this world today, through his recorded discourses in his books, Chandramohan Chain (Osho) is still giving his teachings to millions of people.
