Sher Bahadur Deuba, a politician from Nepal who was born on June 13, 1946, has been the country's prime minister since July 13, 2021. Since 2016, he has also held the office of president of the Nepali Congress. Deuba formerly held the position of prime minister four consecutive times (1995–1997, 2001–2002, 2004–2005, and 2017–2018). He is a member of parliament representing Dadeldhura 1, which is a parliamentary district.

Deuba was born and reared in the outlying Dadeldhura village of Ashigram, where he also received his elementary and secondary schooling. Tri-Chandra College provided him with higher schooling. He was chosen to the House of Representatives in 1991, where he served as Girija Prasad Koirala's cabinet's Minister of Home Affairs. After Manmohan Adhikari attempted to dissolve the parliament for the second time in two years in 1995, Deuba was appointed prime minister. During his first tenure, he oversaw the signing of the Mahakali treaty with India. During the Maoist uprising that began in July 2001, when he took office for the second time, he imposed a state of emergency and added the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) to the list of "terrorist organizations." In October 2002, King Gyanendra fired him, but in response to the popular outcry, he was reinstated as prime minister in June 2004. He was detained by King Gyanendra during a coup d'état in 2005, and the Supreme Court later ruled that his detention was illegal, leading to his release in February 2006.
According to an agreement between Congress and the CPN to create a rotating administration, Deuba was sworn in as prime minister for a fourth term in June 2017. (Maoist Centre). In 2017's several phases, his administration effectively carried out the elections for all three levels of government. Deuba was named prime minister for a fifth term by President Bidya Devi Bhandari on July 13, 2021, in line with an injunction from the Supreme Court to do so within 28 hours under Article 76(5) of the Constitution of Nepal.
