Rabindra Mishra Biography

Former journalist turned philanthropist, writer, poet, and politician Rabindra Mishra is from Nepal. Additionally, he founded the international nonprofit organization Help Nepal Network, which is exclusively staffed by volunteers and has branches in 14 other nations.

Mishra now serves as the Senior Vice-Chairman of the Rashtriya Prajatantra Party after leaving the Bibeksheel Sajha Party in September 2022 as a general member. In May 2022, he already submitted his resignation as Bibeksheel Sajha Party's national president. Before leaving the BBC in February 2017 to pursue Nepalese politics, he served as the editor-in-chief of the BBC Nepali Service.

Education

Tribhuvan University awarded Mishra a Master's degree in Major English. After that, he traveled to the University of Punjab in Pakistan and obtained a journalism master's degree. He enrolled at the University of London and chose international politics as his major.

Career 

Mishra worked for Pakistan's top English-language newspaper, The News International, and Nepal Television. In 1995, he started working for BBC Nepali Service as a producer. Later, he contributed to prominent English-language shows including World Today and Newshour. In 2006, he was chosen to serve as the BBC Nepali Service's head editor.

Political Life

Mishra left BBC Nepali on February 28, 2017, to get into politics. To "establish a single platform to attract honest and talented Nepalis from all walks of life for the sake of clean politics to develop Nepal," he claimed, was the motivation behind his decision.

The next day, on March 1, Mishra went to the Election Commission with a request to secure the name Sajha Organization (also known as the "Common Party" and a scale as the emblem for his as-yet-unformed political party.

In the 2017 parliamentary elections, Mishra stood against Prakash Man Singh, the head of the Nepali Congress, from Kathmandu 1, but lost by an 818-vote deficit.

Prior to the 2022 Nepalese general election, Rabindra Mishra joined the Rashtriya Prajatantra Party in September 2022.

In the 2022 election from Kathmandu 1, Mishra ran against Prakash Man Singh, the leader of the Nepali Congress, for the second time, but lost by a mere 125 votes.
