Rishi Dhamala was born on Kartik 7, 2032 B.S Jyamrung, Dhading. After the local level government came, that Place become Nilkantha Municipality ward no 11. Jyamrung place is a very remote area of ​​Dhading. Journalist Rishi Dhamal's Father's Name was Kul prasad Dhamal and his Mother's Name was Chet Kumari Dhamala. Dhamala was the youngest among Three siblings. Where Sister's name is Laxmi Dhamala and Pashupati & Shiva are the Big Brothers.


Rishi Dhamala was born in a middle-class family and His father was in the British Army. After his father left the British Army, got married at the age of 45. After getting married, his father settle in Village and do benefactor work for society like the Establishment of schools, and Helping those in pain and suffering.


At that time, For higher education, there was no school in the Jyamrung village, But There was a school for studying up to the Lower secondary level. Dhamal Studied at Shanker Devi Lower secondary school till class five. When Dhamal was Eight years old,  His Mother Passed away. After the death of his mother,  All the responsibility for Dhamal was taken by his father. 


Even as a motherless son, his father wanted to keep Rishi Dhamal together. But after passing 5th standard, Dhamala Steals the money kept in his father's drawer and comes to Kathmandu without letting the father know.


Rishi Dhamal arrived in Kathmandu from Dhading in a truck and was sheltered in a Mother's House(Mamaghar) house located at Kaldhara. Rishi sat there and started to study Sanskrit Subjects at Sanskriti Pathshala, Ranipokhari. But, When his Father came to know that Dhamala was studying in Kathmandu through a relative, Later Dhamala was compelled to return back Dhading.


After returning to the village, Rishi Dhamala again started studying at Sankardev Secondary School and studied up to class seven. After completing his seven class studies, Rishi Dhamala again started to insist to go to Kathmandu for further study. Finally, his father allowed him to go after much insistence.

Rishi Dhamala went to Kathmandu with the support of his father and took a rented room at Kalimati. Likewise, Dhamala Gave a continuation of his study by joining Jana Prabhat Ma. Vi school.

In 2046 B.S, To remove the autocratic monarchy and panchayat system, Voices from various parties and civil society started to roar. To end that tyrannical rule, a Multiparty system and civilians were Looking for a way to end it. 

Risidhamala was a nationalist, He also wanted to rid the country of autocracy. So, He also went to the place where the party and the people rebelled together. So, Rishi Dhamala. Rishi Dhamala also decided to indirectly participate in that people's movement. At that time Dhamal was 14 years old.

Dhamala used to do journalism for Samalochana Newspaper in the early days of the people's movement. And he was responsible for all the marketing and selling of Newspapers in Valley. who also writes news. Being a writer, Dhamala used to raise his voice against the spreading autocratic regime through his newspapers and used to alert the civil society


According to Rishi Dhamala, the first reporting was done in a three-day meeting held at Ganesh Mansingh's house in 2046 B.S. The agenda of the three-day meeting was to talk about how to bring democracy to Nepal.  To attend that meeting, the former Prime Minister of India Chandra Sheker and other distinguished foreign leaders were also present. On behalf of Nepal leaders like Girija Prasad Koirala, Manmohan Adhikari, Krishna prasad Bhattrai and all different dignitaries of the country were participate in that meeting.


Rishi Dhamala reported the three-day historic meeting for the first time without any fear. All decisions and conclusions of that meeting were published in Samaolocha Daily Newspaper. For writing and Selling about anti-government activities in Newspapers, Rishi Dhamala was caught by police at Bhrikutimandap and detained for seven days.


After the seven-day Detention, He continued strongly in journalism and did journalism focusing on people's movements. Later, that magazine became very popular among the citizen because that newspaper used to write about people's freedom and against autocratic rule. After much struggle, the constitutional monarchy was established.


After Restoration constitutional monarchy. Rishi Dhamal was made coordinator of the Secondary Level School Committee of 180 schools government schools. His responsibility was to visit schools and spread public awareness against the panchayat system and Autocratic rulers. Likewise, Dhamala was the rare man who made the first speech in Basantapur after the advent of democracy on the behalf of Ma.vi Sangraha Samiti. 


In 2048 B.S Rishi Dhamala passed his SLC.  As soon as the SLC examination, He started to work for Dristi Newspaper. At that time, Dhamal was also very famous because of his contribution to the movement and had established close relations with the leaders as well.


Dhamala for his higher education joined People's College, Kathmandu. Later Dhamal left Drishti Newspaper work and brought out a magazine called Naya Pusta. Likewise, He successively gains a great position in the field of journalism.

In addition, Rishi Dhamala is the Founder, Publisher & Editor-in-Chief at ReportersNepalExecutive Chairman at Prime Times Television, and Chairman of Nepali Network. Similarly, Dhamala is President of Reporters' Club, a renowned non-profit media advocacy group.
