US rapper JayDaYoungan shot and killed in Louisiana hometown
Rapper Javorius Scott, 24, was shot and killed on Wednesday in Bogalusa, north of New Orleans, according to authorities.
Javorius Scott, the musician's true name, died on Wednesday shortly after 6 o'clock. He was 24.
Just before 6 o'clock on Wednesday, according to the police, a call of shooting was received. One of the injured victims was taken to the emergency department of Our Lady of the Angels. A seriously injured person who was still present at the site was taken there by ambulance.
Bogalusa police reported Scott's death "as a consequence of his injuries" in a Facebook post. The second casualty, named Kenyatta Scott Sr., the rapper's father, several news organizations, was reported to be in stable condition. Although they did not elaborate, police said the survivor was a "close relative" of the artist.
Investigators with the Bogalusa police stated they thought the two shootings were connected.
In a statement, the mayor of Bogalusa, Wendy Perrette, asked locals to maintain composure as police carried out their investigation.
She stated that the needless shooting in Bogalusa was "another heartbreaking reminder of the agony that violent crime carries with it." Scott released YOUNGANimal, his first mixtape, in 2016. In 2019, he released his mixtape Misunderstood, which featured the breakthrough smash 23 Island, after signing with Atlantic Records. In 2020, Baby23, his major-label debut album, was released.
He issued two EPs this year, Scarred and All Is Well. Scott had previously collaborated with Kevin Gates, Lil Durk, Latto, Moneybagg Yo, and Moneybagg Yo.
On Instagram, Scott has more than 2.5 million fans. First Day Out Pt2, his most recent video, garnered 1.9 million views on YouTube. It was not possible to quickly reach an Atlantic Records official for comment.
